Valentine's Ideas from Kristi

Click HERE for TrolleyCards Giveaway! I made this shirt for my 2 year old daughter and it turned out great. I bought different colors of tulle and cut them into small square pieces. I traced a heart onto this white shirt and then scrunched up the squares of tulle and hot glued them onto the shirt. Use a back of a pencil to press the tulle down and then you won't burn yourself. After all the tulle was applied, I hot glued rhinestones into the center of the tulle. Please use hand wash only on your washer, and air dry, so that nothing will come off! I might make one for myself!!

I bought copper wire at Home Depot (lots of it, about 30 feet) and had my husband help me wrap and form this big heart that hangs outside on my shepherds' hook all month long! After bending and shaping the heart, I spray painted it red and added ribbon to it as well!
Here is my ribbon wreath for Valentine's Day! I just love it! My favorite apothecary jars filled with none other then: Candy and heart shaped marshmallows!!
How could I not make a wreath out of valentine candy?!?!? This is 2 years old and still going strong!
Happy Valentine's Day! This is one of my favorite holidays and hearts are adorning my house everywhere. Here are a few ideas to help your home be filled with more valentine decor!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Kristi!!

One evening, Laurel and I went browsing through Pottery Barn and we saw beautiful silver stems in a glass vase with icicles hanging from it and we instantly fell in love. Well, each stem cost $24.00 each, so I decided to improvise and make it myself for much cheaper. I bought big stems at Hobby Lobby at 50% off, metallic silver spray paint, hanging icicles, and went to work. Here is my end creation and I love it! It only cost a total of $25.00!!!

Here is my Christmas wreath this year! I used store bought meringues and hot glued them onto a circular wreath! I love the red candies on the top of the white meringues! It adds a special touch to it. You can find pre-made meringues at your local grocery store.

I decided to hang Christmas plates on my wall this year and I just love the special touch it adds to my house!
Instead of beaded garland, I use pretty ribbon that is tied to the top of our star and draped down our tree!
I took an empty canvas and used my children's hand prints to form a wreath! I dated the back of the art work and now I can have this with me forever!
My husband cut out these three letters out of a 2X4 and my sister and I spray painted them, then covered the top with scrapbook paper and glued jewels on it too. We spray glued on glitter to the "O" and then finished off with ribbons and ornaments. If you can't cut out wood letters, you can buy them at a craft store and do the same thing! It was a very fun project and very affordable.
I hope this gave you some fun ideas to try out this holiday season! I hope everyone has a wonderful month full of family, fun, and wonderful memories! Thanks for letting me post some Christmas ideas!

Happy Halloween from Kristi

Happy October everyone! I am excited to be back on Laurel's blog to share some of my ideas for fall and Halloween. I love this time of year, and we get so excited to start decorating the house with holiday items once again! Hope you enjoy!

I just love using holiday candy to help accent my house, so I decided to make a candy corn wreath. I used brown satin ribbon which enables me to use it through November! It is a simple, affordable, fun project: wreath, candy corn, hot glue, and a little ribbon.
This is a metal star that I spray painted black and then mod podged scrap book paper onto it! I love it, and I wish you could see it up close! But to finish of this star, I used glitter mod podge! It is my new favorite type of mod podge glue to use now!!!

This banner is made by my sister (which you can order from her by emailing her at jen.hardin@comcast.net)! I now have one for every season and my kids just love it!

Here we took a wooden pumpkin and used spray adhesive to put festive scrapbook paper on it.(of course this paper is by Martha Stewart) My sister dangled these pumpkins all the way down her front door on each side!

Last, but not least, my apothecary jars!! I saw this in the Martha Stewart magazine where you stick the letters in your jars. I used dried black beans (which is now a new favorite to use because I love the black color it brings out for halloween, and it is affordable), glitter pumpkins, and this fake skull from Walmart! I also saw in a pottery barn magazine where they used the dried black beans in a vase with an orange candle in the middle. I hope you enjoyed my ideas and decorations. I will be posting over the next week or so, fun projects and food items to do with kids!! Happy Fall to all of you, you can find me at my blog: http://www.hooplajewelry.blogspot.com/! See you soon, Kristi

PS - I'm (Laurel) linking this up to The DIY Show Off. I think it's an awesome post of Kristi's!

Happy 4th of July! My first Guest Post on Laurel's blog, hope you enjoy!

We saw this ribbon wreath at a cute little Boutique in Utah and decided we could make it a lot cheaper. All you need is a round foam wreath and then lots and lots of ribbon. You need to cut about 12 inch strips and then just make bows and knots until all the foam is covered! I have one for almost every holiday and I love it!
I made this tissue balls for my daughter's bday party and have fallen in love with them. All you need is tissue paper (about 10 sheets per color) and some wire and fishing line. Lay the tissue on top of eachother and fold accordian style (about 1 inch folds), then wire wrap the center of the tissue and fan it all out. I then string fishing line to hang from the ceiling.
Here are my apothecary jars that I bought at Costco last year and could not live without them. I fill them differently throughout the year. Candy is one of my favorite ways to bring out the holiday colors. Here I used red gumballs, blue gumballs, and sea shells for white!

Here is my adorable son sipping on a "FIRECRACKER FLOAT"
My sister saw this in a children's magazine. You buy red colored soda pop, vanilla ice cream, pop rocks candy, and I found these adorable straws at Target. The kids will truly feel like fireworks are going off in their mouths when they eat these!!
Hope you guys enjoyed some of my favorite 4th of July ideas! Have a great 4th and be safe. Thanks, Kristi

Meet Kristi

This is my BFF Kristi:
Her resume could seriously be a mile long. You name it, she does it, and she's good at it.

Kristi LOVES the holidays. She goes all out for every holiday. I'm lucky, she usually includes our family in her festivities. Or at least, she shares her ideas and I try to keep up with her. On one of our runs (she's also my running partner that I gush about), I figured out how to abuse our friendship more! She's going to post her holiday ideas on my blog. Yippee! You are in for a treat - they're fun, kid friendly, and affordable.
I can't wait!
