I have been making homemade pizza every Friday night for about 8 years now. Sometimes, I get tired and just buy pizza, but that is rare. Making it is the only way I can ensure that it is OK for our family to eat (read about our eating issues here). I've made a lot of pizza dough and tried a lot of recipes trying to find the perfect one.
After years of trial and error, I think Pioneer Woman's pizza dough is the best. I can now do it in my sleep.
1 tsp yeast
3/4 cup warm water
Let stand for a couple of minutes
In mixer put
2 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
3T olive oil
Add the water/yeast mixture. Mix until combined. Let rise in warm place for a couple of hours. I put it in a olive oil coated bowl and cover it with olive oil coated wrap.
I usually double this and make 2 pizzas - they aren't that big. I have made variations - using whole wheat flour, adding honey, etc. They are fine, but our favorite is the plain one.
Because someone is going to ask, I don't make gluten free pizza. M. doesn't care for it, so I don't waste my time. Baby J. gets his without cheese. I mix up pizza sauce using Our Best Bites Recipe. If I was making this for myself, I would use basil and garden tomatoes - MMMMM!
The awesome, beautiful pizza wheel is courtesy of Novica. I have worked with them before and love their products. I love that everything is handmade and has a story with it. Look around at Peruvian Jewelry, Women's Clothing (under $30), Belts from Brazil, Mens Shirts, Long Dresses, Skirts. It is pretty unique!
Novica is offering you a $50 gift certificate. The hardest part will be deciding what you'd like! Good luck!
