Oh Baby

I can't believe this picture is actually on here.  I am 38 weeks and am officially in the waiting stage.  The cradle is set up, the blankets and clothes are washed, the car seat is here, the freezer is stocked.  Now - we wait.

Things are moving slow around here - very slow to say the least.  I have arranged a bunch of my favorite bloggers to guest post after the little duckling arrives.  We'll keep you posted!  Until then . . .

Rainbow Ruffle Headband

Oh March - what a tease you are with the weather!  Just when we are enjoying some sunshine, the rain and snow come around.  This headband has me dreaming of bright sunny days!

There are a lot of steps that I forgot to photograph - so sorry.  Hope you can get the general idea.  I cut out strips of rainbow color tulle - about 10" long and varying in width.  I started at 2 1/2" wide and ended at 1 3/4" side.  By the time I had gathered it, however, they could have all been the same width and it would not have mattered.  I stacked the strips on top and ran two long stitches down the middle.

To gather, pull only the top threads until it is all ruffled.  Knot the ends so the ruffles don't fall out and glue onto a headband.  Then I took my scissors and snipped it so it got all fluffy.

My girls love it!  I love it!  It was easy - and it will be perfect for St. Patrick's Day!

And on my brunette - the headband hides more.

Rainbows, ruffles, bright colors, hair accessories, inexpensive, easy - what is not to love?

Grateful Sunday

March is finally here - we've waited 8 months for March to be here.  Generally, March is my least favorite month.  It has icky weather here, it is very long with not a lot to look forward to. Now that I am 36 weeks pregnant, it has the potential to be a very LONG month or to fly by.  I'm hoping it is the latter.  We are still battling sickness over here.  Either Tom or I was up every couple of hours to re-administer pain reliever to one of our kiddos last night. Ugh.
I am grateful for - yellow flowers brought over by one of my besties!  Perfect for these gray winter days.

-slip on shoes
-Sudoku puzzles

No-Slip Dish Towels

Sometimes, Martha Stewart is a genius!  This is one of those "why didn't I think of that" ideas.

We hang a dish towel on our oven door - right at kiddos level.  One of the biggest problems is that the towel always ends up on the floor right in front of the oven!

Sewing a strip of velcro has solved that problem!

Now the towel doesn't slip!  Now - can Martha figure out how to help my kids use the towels that are already out instead of just grabbing a new towel?  By the end of the day there are sometimes up to 5 towels on the floor!  At least they are washing their hands, right?
