Handprints

Holy Cow - I now have four kiddos!  What a crazy awesome blessing in my life.  As I've spent so much time cuddling and holding my newborn, I can remember so clearly doing the same with my other kids.  My oldest is almost 10 now, and it is crazy to me that she isn't just so little.  They grow so fast - cliche, I know, but true.  I decided I had to stop time somehow - just for a moment.

I went with their precious hands and decided to embroider them.  It  went fast and I only worked on it in about 10 minute sessions.  This was my view much of the time - awwww.  It was fairly straight forward.   I traced each hand with washable ink.  Then, using embroidery floss, I stitched a simple back stitch.

At first my newborn's hand looked kind of big.  But then, as I added each child, the newborn hand started looking like a little doll's hand!

You just need a damp washcloth and the washable ink comes right off.

Lastly, I stuck it in a frame and put it in a prominent place that I will see often.  And I will smile often.

Adorable! You might want to take that back out and embroider the year on it. It's amazing how much time blurs together as they get older. Of course, I guess you can always look back at your blog!

Awww....doesn't that warm your heart! We have a family tradition to do a set of hand print towels for the grandparents. It is so much fun to see my hand print from all of those years ago when my grandmother would display her set of towels. Yours is beautiful! That is truly a treasure!

What a neat idea! They sure do go grow fast. I took a picture of my youngest hand resting on mine when she was an infant. LOVE that picture. Hard to remember that she was ever that small. Enjoy yours!

Congratulations on your new arrival Laurel! I have a new one myself. Actually he is 9 months this week. I can't believe how fast the time passes!

I was just combing through Google Reader and ran across your cute handprints. I linked to your project in my Friday post. :)
