Camp Mom Week 1

After I posted our Summer Fun Organization,  I got so many emails asking what we are actually doing.  I decided that I would try to recap our activities.  This was week 1.

Monday - Move It Day - we played dodge ball on the trampoline for about an hour.
Tuesday - Totally Science  We made Film Canister Rockets.  I picked up film canisters from Costco (totally doubted they would have some).  We poured some water in them.

Drop an alka seltzer tablet on them and put the lid on quickly. We set them on the ground with the lid on the patio and then began the countdown!

They explode.  We could get them to shoot higher than our house!  We experimented with the amounts of water and used different types of lids.  We found that there were different types of lids that just leaked everything out, which did not work.

I made the kids write in their Science Journals.

Wednesday - What's Cooking - the kids made Baked Corn Dogs.  They make everything.  They are learning to menu play, measure ingredients, use the oven, work together, etc.  It is a beautiful thing.
Thursday - Arts and Crafts - We painted rocks with glow in the dark paint.

They spent the day sitting in the sun and glowed at night.  We got a little impatient and after they dried brought them into the coat closet and watched them glow.

Friday Field Trip - we took a trip to the Denver Aquarium.  We've invited a huge group of friends to help plan and come with us on field trips.

When did her legs get so long and skinny?

All in all, week one was a hit.  The kids wake up each day excited for what we are going to do that day.  They get their chores first, so we can get to the fun stuff!  One week down - eight to go!

It looks like so much fun, specially since we are still stuck in full school and work mode here!
