Avoiding the Summer Slide interview with Soleil Moon Frye for Target

As schools let out for the summer, many kids across the country will forget the lessons they learned throughout the schoolyear.  Research showes that without practice, students will lose their reading skills, a trend known as the "Summer Slide."

Soliel Moon Frye has teamed up with Target and I got the opportunity to interview her about the "summer slide" and what we can do to help our children this summer!  I loved this interview - this topic is right up my alley.  Enjoy!

Check back tomorrow for a giveaway from Target!

Great tips! I always tried to keep my girls involved in reading and math with fun activities during the summer months. One summer we had reading time in our backyard...we invited neighborhood kids around the same age for story time and a fun snack. The kids loved it (and so did the moms). We also have had book swaps with neighborhood kids. Everyone brings a few books (make sure they are labeled with their owners name inside) and we trade for a week or so, then come back and do it all over again.
