They bought an old rocker chair off Craigslist and took off all of the mechanisms. Rather than explain something I really don't know - I just took pictures. They attached it to the bottom of a slip covered Ikea chair. You can kind of understand how the attached it by looking at the pictures! I can get step by step instructions if you would like, but my husband looked at the pictures and said it seemed pretty self explanatory.
They saved hundreds of dollars and got the same look - it looks fantastic! It is just the look they were going for. I love it!

What a GREAT Idea! And so much Cuter then those Gliders!! Awesome, and thanks for sharing!
This is SO CUTE! Looks great and so darn functional, too!
I've always loved the rocker my mom used when I was a baby/kid, so I'm going to reuse that in the nursery. But, I've promised myself that if it's not comfortable enough, I'll buy something. This would be the way to go!
Seriously brilliant!!! Have they had any trouble with it staying all hooked together or however you'd say it? I guess that would be "wear"- has the quality of the DIY lasted? This is seriously such a good idea I am passing on!! Love it!
This is sooo smart!! I'll have to do that when I have another child! You should link up at my new party!

I'm your newest linky follower!
Such a clever thing to do. I'm sure that will make rocking your new baby comfy. :)
That is sweet! I would have never thought to buy new hardware to make it a swivel rocker. Genius!
you are always up to something genius!! great idea. ps--i am still munching on the yummy dark chocolates!! thanks again!
I love that! I tried to get my friend to do it for her nursery. Is it odd that I kinda want to do this...and I don't have kids?
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. That's all I have to say. I just went and followed you on pinterest and linky. You are a rock star.
blessings,

Brilliant idea .... But I'm also fixated on that hot pink and black combo ... and that flower pillow on the chair!
