This year, one of my goals is to keep a daily journal. I used to do it, but I haven't been so good lately. I was inspired by this picture from pinterest:
Isn't it cute? It is from Design*Sponge. I love how simple it is. I didn't have any vintage postcards, though. But I did have this polka dot embosser (is that what these are even called?) from years ago. I embossed 11 3 1/2" x 3" cards. They aren't bright and colorful, but it still gives the dividers a little something.
For the cards, I just cut 3x5 cards in half and wrote the date at the top. I even remembered to put in February 29th.
My goal is to write something - probably just a simple phrase, every day. With the changes we are expecting this year, I'm pretty excited to do this.
I made one of these for my closest friends for Christmas this year. The berry baskets were from Anthropologie and I added a little more color for my friends. I, however, didn't know where I wanted to put this so I kept mine pretty neutral! Shocking!
You know it is a fun gift when you have to make one for yourself!

What a GREAT idea and an awesome gift idea...especially for someone who "has everything"....I started my blog in hopes of journalling about my kids, and it turned into a diy/craft/home blog. I know I've already forgotten so much because I haven't written it down. This would be a great idea for sewing machine drawers - which I have about 10 of! Thanks for sharing this awesome idea and your spin on it!
I love this idea! I think I will try and put one together for myself. Happy New Year!!
I saw that on pintrest too. Such a great idea! I always want to journal but get too overwhelmed, tired, excuse, excuse, etc. I just used a simple spiral notebook for mine so that it is more portable and takes less space. I thought I would get lazy when it came to keeping the cards organized.
Love this! I'm a few days late ... but maybe I'll do something similar. Thanks for sharing. :)
What a great idea. Sending you every good wish for an amazing year. So glad I found your wonderful place, I will follow on my way out and hope you will find the time soon to come visit me and do the same. I look forward to engaging with you in twenty twelve. For now I am off to see more of your very special place! Cheers Specialk XoXo

cute! I want one of those berry baskets so bad! I love journaling and looking back on things so this project is totally up my alley!
This is AWESOME! Exactly what I needed since I recently came across a stash of unused, colorful notecards.
I love this idea. I used to do something similar and it's so fun to look back a few years back on the same day and see what was going on! I love how yours turned out and have been eying those baskets at Anthro -- now I have something perfect to do with it!
Hi Laurel, thanks for linking up at etcetorize last week. I'm featuring this great project this week~ Have a great week and don't forget to come back and link up again!
Forgot to mention that you can grab a featured button from my sidebar!
BEST idea ever!
LOVE this idea!! :) I am a new follower to your blog! :) Erin
This is a great idea--and I love the sweet pictures of your little helper!
What a precious idea! I can imagine being able to reminisce each day as you write, remembering where you were and what you were doing that exact day years ago. I might have to give this a try!
I just wanted to let you know about the project you inspired...http://domesticate.blogspot.com/2012/01/diy-one-line-day-journal.html Thanks again!
Hi, Did you purchase the small basket from anthropologie? I don't want to order the wrong one.
Thanks again, great posting :)
