While the rest of you were oogling (I know that's not a real word spellcheck!) photos, I ripped out this quote. I absolutely agree! Every year, I make a list of everything we want to do during the holidays (starting before Thanksgiving) and everything that might involve. Mailing Christmas cards involves writing the letter, choosing pictures, addressing the envelopes and actually mailing them. I write down every detail on a huge calendar and hang it in my laundry room.
Then, I write down a copy and place it in my Christmas Binder. I blogged about it here, years ago. I carry it with me anytime I go shopping.
This is how I can really enjoy the holidays, make sure I'm not missing anything, and try to really make it magical for our kids.
How do you stay on top for the holidays? I really am curious?

Season's greetings Laurel! I'm agree, there is only a few years to put tradition in thier hearts, so make them count! I have a packed calendar too, but always take moments out of the day to enjoy this busy season. The lights, the scents, the sounds, and I do it all with my loved ones!
Christmas blessings to your lovely family,
Kate
So true, time goes by way to fast! I'll bet you are organized! Happy Monday to you!
Megan
Great idea. I shoulda heard about that about 10 years ago! Then my Christmases would be so much smoother!
I feel like this is the first year that I've (somewhat) of a handle on everything, and I must admit: having a list helps. It KILLS me to say that! In the past, I rely upon my *amazing* (HA!) memory, and it never fails to ....well....FAIL. I forget where I've hidden things, who I've already bought for already, etc etc etc. So between simplifying and WRITING THINGS DOWN, things are going much smoother. Even though I didn't meet my "wrapped and done by December One" goal, I wasn't that far off.
I love your calendar. It's like a piece of art ;)
whoa! So impressive. I don't have as much to manage since I don't have kids, but I also make a list of all the "wishes and to-dos" then plug them in the calendar. I should start earlier in the season though. I love the quote, I'm so grateful for all the traditions my parents instilled in me.
Hi Laurel! Great idea - I love reading your blog. Merry Christmas! And I just do my best with lists and calendars as well, but somehow the last week before Christmas always gets the best of me. Maybe next year??!!
I love this....Very inspiring.
I do the same thing...I love that quote, thanks for posting it!
You are so good...I am feeling the christmas countdown stress...so much to do! Worked on a list today! Constantly impressed by your organization!
ps...saw that you made it into my top referrers this month...thanks for the guest post swap again! :)
You are so organized. I have a similar system but you have taken it to a whole new level. I think family traditions are wonderful. I especially love Christmas traditions. I have found over the years (not telling how many) that having traditions not only strengthens our family connections it actually simplifies our lives. We don't have to come up with new and different things to do or eat EVERY time we get together! My kids at every age have always loved them ♥ and they still do!
I don't put off doing anything, I just do it, and make most of my time. As soon as my cards come in I address them and get them out. I'm doing mostly online shopping so it's a bit less hectic and time consuming. Now, to wrap all those gifts sitting in boxes in my foyer!
I've always thought... Christmas is not just a day, but a season of traditions meant to be enjoyed. From cookie baking to gift giving, we should enjoy it all, or what's the point?!
This is a fabulous post! Thanks for the reminder that it's worth the sometimes hectic days!
