This year we celebrated the last day of school/first day of summer. It's worthy of a celebration, don't you think?
Balloons . . .

. . . now it's a party. I got buckets at Target's Dollar Spot and filled them up with summer goodies: sunglasses, sunscreen, water balloons, bubbles. crazy straws, candy . .

and a banner . . .
We barbecued turkey burgers, drank soda, ate chips and Popsicles. We set up our sleeping bags in the living room, watched a movie and let the kids sleep downstairs - while Tom and I slipped up to a real bed.
Tom wasn't a big fan (I think he was just tired from doing yard work all day), but the kids had fun. Now let the summer begin!

It is worth a celebration most certainly! Here we are celebrating the start of fall...seriously, the rain just doesn't stop!! Janell
What a fun idea. I love your banner.
Great idea. I think I'll do something similar in a few weeks when the boys are out of school for the summer :)
Oh, I love the banner and the balloons. So much fun, happy summer!
So fun! Those celebrations are the traditions your children will remember.
How much fun is that?! We had a forced slumber party last week when the upstairs AC went out. :s The girls had a blast sleeping on their mattresses in the living room. :)
I love your summer banner...that is too cute!
Love it! Your always full of fun ideas!=)
What a fun idea! I love making little events special, your kids will remember that forever. I wish I was out already, we don't finish till 6/25.
Happily, our school year ends after just about everyone else's, so I'm seeing fun ideas all over the place on how to make it special! Thanks for sharing yours :)
How fun! And I love that banner! Sooo cute! I might just have to copy! ;)
You are a fun mommy! I need to step it up with my celebrations. I'm kind of boring when it comes to decorating for a party.
So sweet of you to do this. I agree, the first day of summer IS worthy of celebration.
Thanks for the inspiration.
What great fun! I like this idea. My kids used to all sleep in the same room on Christmas eve and watch movies. They did this up until my son left on his mission! The first year my oldest daughter was married she actually wanted to come home and do it, yeah she's a nut! This should be a tradition at your house bz it sounds like so much fun!
What a fun idea!
Definitely worth a celebration! Who doesn't love summer and the end of the school year?!
