Bread Machine

Do you use yours? My sister in law was visiting once and teased me that I was a good housewife using my bread machine. I was shocked - of course I use it!

We use ours at least twice a week - which I think is a lot, consider M. is allergic to wheat, and I hardly eat any type of bread product.

Still . . . everyone else loves all types of breads. Bread sticks, rolls, cinnamon rolls, crescent rolls, you name it. And this makes everything SO much easier and cleaner.

I only use the dough function. Then I shape it and bake it in our oven.

We have pizza and movie every Friday night, and I have been making the pizza almost every Friday for about 4 years. I like to make my own dough and try to make it a bit healthier. I usually substitute half of the flour for whole wheat flour. I used Martha's recipe for years, but now I use The Pioneer Woman's, and I like it better. I like that it makes 2 and I can use one now and pop the other in the freezer. It always thaws beautifully. I like thin crust and this stretches and rolls out just how we like it.

What do you use your Bread Machine for?

PS - I just found out that my laptop needs a whole new motherboard. I guess it never fully recovered from when I fell down the stairs a couple of months ago. In the meantime, I'm posting on my kids archaic computer and have to use our old camera. Sorry - please be patient if I don't get back to you as quickly as I would like. Computer shopping was not on my to-do list!

I quit using mine years ago, in fact it became a new member at the DI just last year. I should have learned to just use the dough function. I used the whole kit and kaboodle and cooked it in there but it was too crusty for our taste and gradually no one would eat what I made. I went back to Rhodes dough cooked in Pampered Chef bread stones. It really turns out yummy but not quite so healthy I guess. I rarely make bread. I have a different pizza dough recipe that I do by hand.

We got a bread machine last summer, and I use it 2 or 3 times a week to make our sandwich bread. I've only used the dough function, and I've only tried one recipe, but it works. ;) I'd like to try doing the pretzel recipe that was shared once over at Infarrantly Creative. :)

Our bread machine is tucked safely away in its box.

And it's been there since our bridal shower 5+ yrs ago!

my bread machine has already been sold. as much as i like fresh bread, i just don't have the counter space and once it's put away in the pantry, i forget about it! wish i used it when i had it :)

Are you serious? I LOVE my bread machine. I just got it this last Christmas. I use the dough setting to make my cinnamon rolls and I use the basic setting to make good ol' fashion white bread. It always turns out yummy even if I bake it in the machine. Plus, I love the smell of fresh bread. I would make it every night just so my house can smell like fresh bread :) but I refrain so I don't chow down on bread all day long. Anyway, yes, I have a bread machine and I love it!

I have the exact same bread machine!! And I also only use the dough function. I used it on Sunday to make crescent rolls...but it worked a lot better once I realized I had forgotten to put the kneading blade in the bottom of the pan BEFORE adding all the ingredients...

I was so excited to buy one with wedding money, but have only used it twice in as many years.

Cinnamon roll dough, pretzel dough, pizza dough, breadstick dough, bread dough, roll dough.

Yep. I like the dough function a lot. I like the regular bread okay, but we use it mostly for dough. At least twice a week. Usually more. I want to use the jam function one of these days.

I really should use ours more. But, I don't. I've never tried the dough feature, but I would love to try the pizza dough. Thanks for the tip.

I use my machine alot like you, just for dough.
I also sub most of the white out for wheat AND I make pizza dough in it too! I made some killer honey oatmeal bread yesterday that was a white recipe originally but I turned it whole wheat & yummmmmmy!!! do you use gluten in your recipes or just increase the yeast?

I don't use one but that bread makes me want to use one!!!

I love our bread machine. We are on our second one now, the last one got so well used! We too only use it for dough then shape it and pop it in the oven.
We mostly use it for pizza dough, every Saturday night :)
I am gluten free so make my dough seperately but it makes it easier for feeding everyone else.
I havent tried making gluten free dough in it yet...

I happily sold mine at a yard sale years ago and have never looked back. I didn't like the way it cooked, and when I used the dough function, the dough was too dry most of the time. I do, however, LOVE my kitchenaid and my easy bread recipe that turns out every single time. I LOOOOVVVVEEEE my Cuisinart even more. I have a delicious pizza crust recipe that literally takes 3 minutes to make and roll out once the yeast has gotten foamy. Wouldn't trade these machines for any amount of dough.
