There is no real measuring, but I'll try to come up with some approximations, and you can adapt the heck out of this - use fruits you like.
1 cup mixed berries - I buy them from Costco
1 banana
1 cup yogurt
1 huge handful of spinach - don't be afraid, the kiddos don't even notice it's in there!
1 scoop of protein powder
1 scoop of flax seed
Enough milk to make it runny - about 1 1/2 cups. M. likes it better when I use apple juice for the liquid, but I prefer milk.
Throw it in the blender and blend away. It makes about three servings.
Straws are necessary, candy cane cups are optional.
I make these about 5 times a week, and just use my Cuisinart blender that I bought at Costco over 5 years ago. I'd love a big fancy blender, but this one does the job.
This is what helps me get through the morning - what do you do?

Yum! We love smoothies at our house too! I had a peach one this morning. I make mine almost exactly the same. ~Lanie
These look good! And the protein powder and flax seed don't throw off the taste for the kiddos? Impressive. I've been on a cereal kick, but smoothies are so easy I might have to give them another try.
I just looked up recipes for smoothies the other day and bought some different ingredients this morning! I can't wait to try some different ones.
m. looks amazing. hot mess with her smoothie. i love that blond baby.
Yummy! I love your Easter tablecloth & Christmas cups. :)
I'm going to have to try those smoothies! Do you buy that mungo bag of Flaxseed at Costco too?
yum, we love smoothies although I never thought to use flaxseed. can you taste it?
Looks yummy. I make a "goulash" as a former co-worker called it. Basically cereal-HBoO-and yogurt. Yum! Add berries and double yummy!
I like a peanut butter/banana smoothie- but since it is all fat and sugar I don't make it often. I eat breakfast in the car on the way to work- banana and dry cereal. Today I had leftover easter eggs.
We do smoothies for breakfast too. I have just started adding the spinach and was pleasantly surprised.
I make huge batches of whole wheat pancakes and waffles with flaxseed or oats on the weekends and then freeze them. It helps me quickly prepare a healthy breakfast on busy week days. I forgot about smoothies, thanks for the reminder! We'll try those this week.
Looks yummy, I like the spinach idea...I will be trying that soon!
Mmmmm Yummy! Can't wait to blend one up.
Hee hee! Are you in my kitchen? We use the same fruit from Costco, the same blender from Costco, we have the same granite countertops, the same cabinet color, the same stainless oven and fridge. But, I don't have a cabinet between my oven and fridge, though they are right next to each other. Ha! Funny!
Thanks for the smoothie recipe- we are smoothie lovers around here. I may just sneak in some spinach!
We love smoothies too! I am in love with our Magic Bullet. :) Just thought you should know that I had a student (I teach dance) cancel tonight so, sans kiddo, I had some extra time to kill and the only thing that I thought would make me happy is to drool over your blog and mad skills! Thank you for being an inspiration to me! And thanks for checking out my blog too! Have a blessed day! :)
we made a variation of this today! (only strawberries, not mixed berries, and no spinach or protein b/c that's what we had...) delicious! thanks for the idea.
I'd want mine in a candy cane cup, too. Cool.
Looks delicious!! I've been saving myself money and time by making my non-fat mochas at HOME with the espresso machine I got for Christmas. That's how I add a little jump start to my day. ;) Thanks for visiting my blog while I was away. :)
Yum!! I'm a huge smoothie girl but will have to try the handful of spinach--genius!
great idea to add spinach! i've been doing it for the past 2 days and they can't tell at all! here's my version: a few strawberries, some plain yogurt, a splash of OJ, a scoop each of wheat germ and flax seed, a whole banana, a squeeze of honey, and a handful of spinach! they love it. where do you get your protein powder and flax seed?
This looks really yummy! New follower...
