Let me share a pet peeve:
(not from my home!)
I can't stand piles of shoes. Unfortunately, everyone here takes off their shoes (which I do appreciate greatly) and I haven't figured out a system for visitors, yet. Anyways, I digress. I don't like piles of shoes. I had my father-in-law build cubbies in our garage to help with that problem. They hold our everyday shoes. I love them, I don't think I'll ever be able to function without those cubbies.
But . . . there were still shoes in the closet. I'm a closet vacuum - I always assumed everyone vacuumed their closets. How can you vacuum when shoes are all over the floor?
We have shoe racks in every closet. These work so well that even my 2 year old can go get her shoes, or better yet - put them away.
In my closet, I have shelves. I don't consider myself a shoe hound like I think most girls are. They just aren't my thing. Please don't judge on how worn or out of style these shoes might be.
I have these boot hangers for my boots. I get them at The Container Store.
The shoes are up, off the floor, organized, and I can vacuum. That makes this mommy happy.
So, tell me - do you vacuum your closets, or do I need to consider therapy (as the eye rolls of my family might suggest?)
PS - I have to sell my favorite duvet cover ever. It's from PB and it is twin size, but both my girls have full size beds. I absolutely love it and hope it goes to a home. If you are interested, email me and we can skip the ebay part.

Unfortunately my shoes are in piles so my closets don't get vacuumed. I have shelves, but while pregnant just got in the habit of throwing them in the closet. I plan to get this problem resolved as soon as I have a free afternoon. I have already taken my before pic.
You're not the only one... I vaccuum my closets too! :)
Um, I hate piles too, but I have one going on in my closet right now. :( I have, um....a LOT of shoes. I have two big shelves in my skinny (non-walk-in) closet, but it's just not enough. I need to work something out.
PS. I have the same zebra striped flats with the pink bows. ;)
I WOULD vacuum my closets, but the bottoms of them are full of other things - not shoes though, those are stored on shelves in their original boxes - don't judge me :) I do like the boot hangers though!
You're a girl after my own heart. I vacuum my closets but I only have 2 pair of shoes and my husband has 3. We're not big into shoes at all. We take ours off at the back door by the garage too and they go right in bins so the bedroom closets aren't a problem. I had to laugh at my married daughter. She said that I'm "becoming" so organized now that the kids are moving out. I told her that I've always been organized but now that the kids are moved out you notice is more bz things are always put away! I can't believe she thinks this is new for me, lol! My kids were just never too good at cooperating in this respect but they were great about other things.
I haven't vacuumed closets, but I do love your shoe shelves. I don't have that many shoes...yet.
Um, I kick the shoes to one side and vacuum, then kick them to the other side and vacuum there! I like your system better. I need to get some shoe racks!!
And I'm a closet painter! Fortunately all our closets are mainly hardwood but I do still vacuum them - you are never alone. I also have the exact same pair of dark brown boots as you! Although I need to get some boot hangers...

And those boot hangers are GENIOUS. Why have I never seen these before? I'm a closet vacuumer as well, but the flopped over boots drive me crazy everytime.
No Laurel, I vacuum my closets. Sometimes I feel like they are the dirtiest because thats where the shoes are! We have shoe racks, but I need to get me some of those boot hangers. Those are great!

Aw man- I need those boot hangers! Mine are all standing up with the top half folded over all schlumpy...but that would mean I actually have HANGING space. It's a good thing I don't have alot of clothes (or shoes....you've got at least double what I've got) because our closet is teeny. Besides, I'd rather buy a throw pillow than try on jeans ANYDAY ;)

Holy boot hangers Batman! I have never heard of those before and I love them. {I am a closet vacuumer too!}
I love those boot hangers. I need to get those. I had a huge closet intervention on myself a couple of months ago - it was a wreck. And I love to vacuum - so being able to vacuum my closet is awesome!

Shoes piles make me itch! I am often itchy. The worst though, is when someone comes in the house, takes their shoes off and leaves them right behind the door. So when you come in you have to push the door past the shoes. I'm scratching at this very moment over the thought of it!
I love your ducks in a row photo by the way. Really love it.
