Me and Emma, by Elizabeth Flock. It was a fast read, and one that I could not stop thinking about once I finished.

The Last Queen, by C. W. Gortner - loved trying to figure out what would I do if I were Queen Juana.

The Forgotten Garden, by Kate Morton. LOVED LOVED LOVED this one, and although I never buy books, this is one I would add to my library!

The Help, by Kathryn Stockett. I read this for January's book club and I was totally captive.
Love Walked In, by Marisa de los Santos. Kristi recommended this book and it is the type of book where when you finish you go to a friend and say "read this book!"
A Pearl in the Storm, by Tori Murden Mcclure. An inspiring story, but I was ready for it to be done when it was.

I'm starting Born to Run by Christopher McDougall this week and am super excited.

What's on your reading list?

thanks for the book recs. i love to read too but often don't have time. i added several of these books to my request list at the library. thanks!
This post is just what I needed! I am already thinking ahead to the new year and I've decided my resolution is to read, actual books, again. It has been far too long since I've picked up a great book. Thanks for giving me a great list to think about, nearly all of these sound like books I'd love!
Thank you for the recommendations, I am always looking for a good book. I have recently read Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict and Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict by Laurie Viera Rigler, they were both a fast read, but I enjoyed them. I am looking forward to Elizabeth Kostova’s new book The Swan Thieves, which comes out next month. She is the author of the Historian. I loved that book, if you haven’t read it…….I highly recommend it. Enjoy!
I just finished the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and loved them! My husband even picked them up to read. They would make a great family read-aloud too!
I love to read too! Those all sound so good. I haven't read any of them. I will put them on my list. Thanks Laurel!
XOXO

OOooo....the post is worth it's weight in gold! I've been in a slump since I finished (devoured?) Chasing Fire, and am looking for something to do during xmas break to keep me sane. You know, beside yelling at the kids ;)
Have you read Actor and a Housewife by Shannon Hales? Very funny and thought provoking. I do recommend!
great timing -- gifts to put on our list!
Hey Laurel- I just found your blog and I'm in love. I'm going through the archives now! Thank you for doing what you do here.
I just finished The Forgotten Garden two days ago and it was SO good that I've been having a hard time choosing my next book. I'm going to jump into one of these from your list.
I loved The Help..so great, thanks for the other book suggestions!
Reading? What's reading?
I have stacks and stacks of books that I've been meaning to read...I'll have to add these to the pile :)
I really like reading, but I havn't picked up a novel in a while. When I read a book, I read a book...and don't do anything else! So, I've stayed away. Maybe I need to pick one up and treat myself sometime.
I love reading too but haven't read a book in a long time. I just bought Julie Klassen's new book yesterday and really like it so far.
I love new book suggestions! We just picked ours for the next 6 months with book club, and The Help is at the top for January too!
OH how I love to read. I read When Love Walked In and I loved it. I loved how it referenced old movies and everything else about it. I read the book after this and guess what...loved it too! THe last book I read was Twilight and that was September 08 (?). I find with my MS that it is hard to read books. I will find a way though!
Found you through Arizona Lewis and love the book list. I got a Kindle for Christmas and just finished Lovely Bones. I think I will download Me & Emma, but The Help looks good too! I read Love Walked In, good read.
