Dare to DIY - Thanksgiving Apron

Are you cooking Thanksgiving dinner? I sure am. Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite time to cook. I think it is because you get one week to cook it, and every takes the kiddos away to let you just be in the kitchen.

So . . . I dared to sew an apron to wear while I cook. Does that count?

Actually, I sewed a couple so my helpers could look like they belong.

I was excited to have a reason to use Moda's Gobble Gobble line and a cute orange velvet ric-rac.

I used the BHG apron pattern that Kim talked about. It's a free pattern, gotta love that.

Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of yourself, while sucking in your tummy, and trying to get good lighting? Hard - that's why there's only one, and it's at the bottom.

For more of me feeling the Thansgiving spirit, I have Thanksgiving quilts here, and my PB knock-off Thanksgiving advent calendar here.

Hmmm.... I'm cooking for Thanksgiving and don't have an apron. Didn't really think about it until now, but yours is so cute I'm feeling left out! May just have to get one. :-)

That's such a cute little apron! I think I definitely need the smock apron - I still haven't outgrown the "oh wait, I shouldn't stir the spaghetti sauce that fast?" phase. But what a great idea for Thanksgiving! It's cute, useful, and you can reuse it!

Your apron is adorable! I seriously need to tackle sewing. It intimidates me....and I suck at it.

It looks totally fab! Just as soon as I can unpack my sewing machine I am going to attempt that. Well, it won't happen for Thanksgiving, but maybe I can pull it off for Christmas. I know a sweet little helper that would love one too.

Thanks for posting this!

great job! i have gotten into the habit of wearing aprons all the time - old ones of my grandmas and new ones that i've made -- even my little girls grab them when they get to help in the kitchen. love the one you made!
