Pottery Barn Pillow Knock-Offs

Years ago, my sister (who lives in AZ and never has a need for a cable knit sweater) handed me down this sweater. I love the look, but it was too short for me. I saw a pillow in the pottery barn catalog:I took the sweater and stuffed the insert in it to check out the fit.
Then I cut off the arms, sewed the bottom and sides up. I stuffed the insert through the neck opening. I wasn't sure how to close it and my friend suggested buttons. I'm picturing wooden toggle buttons - cute, huh? I'll have to wait for my next outing to get those. For now, I'll just position it so the opening is behind another pillow. I think this pillow looks perfect for the upcoming cold weather!

Next, I had enough fabric from my linen bulletin board, to pull together this pillow. I've done it before, I've posted about it before. Nothing new here. I even had an extra button left over from the last time I did it. Still . . . it's a pillow I made that I love that cost me $0.

I've still got more coming! I just finished up 5 pillows for a friend last night.

I was reading an article somewhere, and to close a pillow they used ties. Just cut strips and attached to either side of the opening and tied it closed. It was cute too.

Love that sweater pillow. My mom got me two from Pennys last year that I love. Something about a sweater pillow makes me ready to cuddle up for fall (but not winter! steer clear snow, pleassssse!)

I gave a cableknit sweater that I shrunk to my sister...I think I'm going to ask for it back!

Such a great idea! It looks so nice on that great bench! Pillows are one of my very favorite things to make and I have a bag full of old sweaters in the closet. Hmmm...I feel a project comming on!

That is adorable. I remember loving that pillow when I saw it in the PB catalog last year. I'll have to keep it in mine for a DIY project!

I love the sweater pillow. I always mean to go to a thrift store to nab a sweater and make my own. Then I forget. Oh well.
