- Edward - he doesn't make me go weak in the knees, my heart doesn't pitter and patter, and there's not much about him that I like. In fact, he kind of annoys. See . . . I probably just made enemies. But, to make more enemies, I'm not on Team Jacob, either. AND Bella drives me crazy.

Those are just 2, but they are very mainstream and I think make my point very well. Tom thinks Edward has nothing to do with having emotions or not - but I think it is evidence that my heart is stone.
Enter, Pure Country.
Ever heard of it? No one has except my BFF from Kennewick and me. Bad acting, bad story line, unattractive actors, etc. etc. Last night, flipping through channels, not paying attention to anything, I notice this is on CMT, so I start to watch it. Wouldn't you know it? When George Straight starts to sing "I Cross My Heart," the tears start coming! Tom, shocked, looks up and says "What's wrong with you? are you pregnant?" The only excuse he could think of for why I would be so crazy. Except, I'm not (pregnant, that is), so I guess I must be crazy! Admitting it is the first step, right? Please tell me I'm not the only one who is like this.
P.S. After reading some comments, I want it to be very clear that I DO NOT think Pure Country is a tear jerker - don't go watching it expecting that. I'm just weird.

Lol - sobbed through Marley and Me, but right with you on Edward. I can't get excited about pale and cold cuddling.
Oh Pure Country, I've seen it once - but don't remember any tears.
Pure Country is my sister-in-law's favorite movie OF ALL TIME. So you are not alone in this :-) George Strait's such a great singer!
Laurel...that is TOO funny. I remember that movie from high school, but it has been years since I've seen it. I cry pretty easy lately (I'm not pregnant either) but I must admit I puddled up at the end of Pride & Prejudice on Sunday.
For the record, Bella bugs me, too.
You are just fine! In fact, I have a daughter just like you. Her sisters and I will be bawling like crazy women, over some silly movie and she's laughing at us. Everyone has their own "trip switches" and some have tons more than others. I read the other day that women have certain hormones that are only released through tears--and everyone has their own level of those hormones. It could be that you just don't need to cry as often as some ladies--because of a lower level of this hormone. Cool for you! Just think how level-headed you'll be in a crisis--while everyone else is blubbering away!
Your so cute. I cant relate because Im a crier. Even on commercials the twins look over stunned and ask "Mom, are you crying?!" Im really sensitive so that doesnt help. I dont watch movies like Gladiator because I think too much into the movie and feel the actors pain. I know, Im a dork. lol
Well I haven't read or watched Twilight yet and have never seen this movie, but I can identify with being really WEIRD. I'm a very odd woman for a number of reasons. I won't go into them but I often wonder what the heck is wrong with me!! :)
I'm not going to lie, I love Pure Country and I have seen it a lot and I cry when he sings that song too!
Thank you for visiting my blog! I had no idea I was on the Google Reader's recommend list. Wow!
Btw, I haven't seen any of those movies so I can't contribute to this convo! But I think I need to check out "Pure Country" for sure. :-) But, I cry at a drop of a hat!
I wonder sometimes about not being very girly too. I don't cry during RS lessons unless I'm preggers.:) And I don't have the best girl skillz, like talking to people on the phone... But then again I'm mildly obsessed with many a fictional character (Heathcliff,Mr Rochester,Edward,Mr Darcy...) so I guess we all have the exception to our rules and yours is George Straight!:)
Oh and I think Bells BUGS everyone.:)
I was just blog-hopping and read your post. I can't say I've seen Pure Country, but I am the polar opposite of you. I've been known to cry during a particularly touching Hallmark commercial. I used to try to hide it from my hubby because I was embarrassed, but now he knows what makes me cry (almost anything) and he just laughs. . . but in a good way.
I can't say that I cried at Pure Country, but I have cried in a number of very odd movies or TV shows, most recently Scrubs. It's a comedy and there shouldn't be anything to cry about. I'm retarded.
I cried and cried with Marley and Me!

Love "Pure Country"!
And the Edward/Twilight thing does not do it for me. I refuse to read them, actually. Vampires are not what I think of when I think dreamy. I'm more of a Darcy, Wentworth, Knightley kind of girl. Stephanie Meyer has nothing on Jane Austen for dreamy leading men.
Okay, right with you on the Edward thing, but I cried in Marley & Me and I loved Pure Country in high school! Girl, it's cool to be weird :) Welcome to the club!
Bella is pathetic. Driving you crazy should be normal!
And I've totally heard of Pure Country. REALLY bad acting, but hey I'll watch George Strait in anything. Good thing that was it!
Can't really speak to the rest...considering I cried watching The Brave Little Toaster...no kidding!
I have not given into twilight yet...but I did cry watching Marley and Me...that is too funny about all the crying on the plane! lol! I can only imagine! ;)
Hi Laurel! Funny post. I do love Edward, but I'm not a big crier. I didn't cry when I saw Marley and me either. I have never seen nor hear nor heard of Pure Country. If it made YOU cry it must be a real tear jerker. And your husband's reaction to your crying: hilarious!
Have a great day!

Hi Laurel :)
I like a good Anne Rice vampire, but that whole Edward thing is kinda creepy since he's supposed to be a teenager, isn't he?? You know like... MY SON'S AGE.... yikes!
I'm a cryer though, through and through, but I hide it ;)

You are hilarious! I did NOT cry in Marley and Me either! I am not a dog person though so it just wasnt there for me. I wonder what is wrong with me sometimes because I would rather be at a junk store than shop for shoes. I hate spending money on shoes, purses and clothes! :)
L, we can no longer be blog friends for you have offended my future husband, Edward Cullen. =]
(Yikes, I need to get out more.)
What if Edward was wearing wranglers? Or what if Edward ate Marley?
You're warming up now.
Off to Prescott. 13.1 or bust!
HA! I am so with you! I have finally been reading the Twilight Saga, and I love them, but I am also not as in love with the characters as I heard that I should be! I am loving the exciting story, but thats about it!
We walked out of Marley and Me, still haven't seen the end, I'll let you know if it gets me.
And last but not least....Pure Country! I get nostalgic just thinking of watching it with you! I don't know what it is about that movie, it was pretty bad, but I just get a hankerin' to watch it every once in a while! I'm not sure if I get teary about it, maybe it is me that is cold hearted. Love your posts! Your backyard is amazing!
I just came across your blog and have to agree with you...for one thing..I have seen Twilight and it just gave me the feeling of that I could take it or leave it(meaning it was just an ok movie). And I'm certainly not one to jump on the bandwagon!
I haven't seen Marley and Me but I've heard what happens and I probably would be bawling my eyes out:)
I love Pure country...yeah,it's bad acting but it's also GEORGE STRAIT!! That scene gets me to tear up as well, lol
