I think one of the things that makes my days a little "easier, " or more flexible is knowing I have a Mommy Game Plan. I have it laminated, clipped to my calendar that sits on my desk in the kitchen. Now don't go thinking I'm over-the-top crazy here. I've used it for years now and it really keeps things moving along. I haven't been very good keeping with it lately, thus the selfish reason for this post. Every now and then this blog keeps me in check.
I have my week broken down into different categories: workouts, cleaning, dinner meals, etc. Then I write own what I plan to do on Monday for each of those things: I run 3 miles/weights, kids laundry and downstairs, muffins for breakfast, Mexican for dinner. Etc., etc. It makes everything seem doable, I'm able to make sure everything gets done throughout the week - which leaves me guilt free feeling when there is down-time and I'm playing trains, instead of stressing about what should be done.
It's fairly easy, yet helps this mommy manage my time. Gotta love that.

This is brilliant! I love it. You know how everytime you write a post about parenting I say that I'm adding it to my list of things I learned from Laurel for when I'm a mom? Maybe you could just write a book - the list is getting a little long.
Laurel, can you come and schedule my life for me/???
please...
xo
This is so cool, usually I have my day split into exercise/scriptures/housework etc and then if I don't check off them all I feed bad. I like this approach-bigger picture.
I do something like this...but it is only in my head...I would PROBABLY be a little more successful if I actually wrote it down.
:-)
What a great thing to have!
i love it. Schedules are my friend. Nice!
I think I need to steal this idea and make it my own :-) might help with that 'treading water' feeling I frequently have!
Nice! I'm way into lists but not so much schedules, this would probably help me out!:)
You know - I think your way of doing it is brilliant. Sometimes I "over list" myself to the point where I just give up. Your way of doing it looks simple - so it feels more manageable. I've giving this a try. I feel like I am treading water lately trying to get anything done. (I think three days in a row when I have NO idea what to serve for dinner at 6:00 p.m. is a huge clue that I need help!) My poor family!
I LOVE this idea!! I have so many to do notes and they are always completely filled - this way it is more structured and focused! I'm stealing this one friend!
What a CLEVER idea!! You got game girl!
That's a great plan! I need to get a little more organized around here. I'm good for a little while and then I don't know what happens, but it's all a mess again!
One day I'll get it right! :-)

i found your blog through homemadebyjill, and wanted to let you know that i LOVE this idea. all too often i stress out last minute about meals, and find that having everything CLEARLY written in front of me helps a ton. my husband is celiac so we eat gluten-free in our home, another item to add to the stress. would love to swap some GF recipes if you get the chance. rebecagiles at gmail dot com. Thanks for this organization tip!
A great idea! I saw someone in my bible study with something similar this week - I seem to get way more done when a have a list, and it feels like I've accomplished so much more. :)
Tom needs to beware! Danger! Danger! Danger! I learned early in the marriage not to question what the home body did during the day. Avoid these comments:
1. You worked hard today? Doing what?
2. Wish I could take a nap in the middle of my work day.
3. They are smaller than you, why can't you make them do what you want?
4. Why do you know what Oprah talked about if you were so busy all day?
Just words to the wise! Because when I would be home with the kids on a Saturday, I would be lucky to get a single load of wash done.
That is one GREAT idea. Thanks for sharing it. I SO need something to plan by, my days just seem to get away from me and become chaotic!
Wooot! I love that idea!
I love your game plan! Short, sweet, non-overwhelming. I need to be making me one of these...have a great weekend!
