I's birthday

She's 6. It's done and over and she is just getting so big! She is really a remarkable girl, and I'm not saying that just because I am her mother (although I am guilty of being prejudiced.) First off, she's gorgeous. She has big brown chocolate eyes - so dark you almost can't see the iris. Her skin tans so easily. The other day she complained that it wasn't fair that she had "olive skin and the rest of her family has apricot." Oh, what a bad thing to have happen to her. She also has awesome hair that she's going to love as a teenager. Second off, she's very intelligent - she gets things easily and I have to be quick to stay a step ahead of her. Third, she just wants to be a good girl. I notice that as she is getting older, peer pressure is starting to affect her and that breaks my heart. But naturally, she has a strong desire to be good and to make right choices.

We had a fun day - she started out sitting on the front steps about a half hour before her party started, so dejected thinking no one would come:
Then we had eight friends come. All I. wanted to do was stay in her PJs all day and eat sugar - and that we did. We played hide and go seek, a chasing game, musical chairs (pillows). We decorated cupcakes:
We did karaoke and danced to High School Musical. I heard her tell Tom it was so awesome because "we were singing so loud, you couldn't even hear the DVD!!" I put sparkler candles in her cake, which was too scary for her:
After the party, we played. I finished the pillowcases that we passed out to everyone and we ended up having to drive them to their houses because I didn't get them done on time - oh well. That night, tacos for dinner, more cake and more presents. We finished with a bike ride on the new bike:
Daddy still needs to put some training wheels on it, but she likes to walk it around until that happens. Off to bed and then I had to deal with this:

ps - happy birthday to our Brandon Teuscher!

My baby turns nine months today - unbelievable! At nine months, both of my other kids were walking and just seemed so grown up. M. loves to crawl, so I think I can keep her as a baby for a little bit longer! She has a sweet disposition and loves to be where the action is. Her brother can make her giggle like no other. She loves to just "play" in the toy room with I and G. She is a blondie and looks like a combination of all of us.

I guess after nine months, I now have no excuse for that baby bumper that I carry around and perch her on. More workouts. Sigh.

Grateful Sunday

Two words: Grandma. Camp. Because my mom's grandkids live in different states, my mom is on a Grandma Tour. She's already been to AZ to see my sister's kid, Sprinville to see my brother's baby, and we spent the past week in Breckenridge with her. Next she's on to the oh-so-perfect Whistler for my older brother's kids. So, I drove my kids up to Breckenridge where we got to stay in a spacious hotel room and just play. I'm grateful for:

  • The cricuit and all the paperdolls around our house.

  • High School Musical and all the songs that have been stuck in our head all week.

  • Blue Dinoco Lightning McQueen and the way it has entertained us for hours.

  • Mission Impossible an the spur of the moment "fights" that have come from it.

  • Devin and her sweet baby (and that she looks like my baby).

  • The amount of work that was done in my backyard while we were gone - it's amazing!

We are glad to be in our own home an now we can sleep (cross your fingers.)

Too funny not to post!

Grateful Sunday

I'm a little reflective today. I am grateful for my testimony of the restored gospel and a knowledge that Heavenly Father is my Father, who loves me in ways I can't comprehend. I'm grateful for children who give me a little glimspe of what love really means and helps me understand more how much a parent can have for their children. I'm grateful for a husband who holds the priesthood and the immense blessings that come to my family because of that. I'm grateful to be sealed to my dearest friend and for an understanding that we make a pretty good team. I also come from a very loving family and have married into a loving family and I am grateful for the confidence that brings - just knowing how much I am loved. I have wonderful friends, and people whether near or far, who for some reason or another want to be a part of our life and that is also uplifting. So, I feel loved and for that I am grateful.

What's Been Keeping Us Up All Night

I have decided to finish up projects - I really have a pet peeve about leaving unfinished projects.

This is my baby's bedding. I sewed the bumper, the skirt, a duvet cover and a pillow. My favorite part, other than the Amy Butler fabric is the white piping separating it.

One night, I sewed 5 hooded towels. I was practicing monogramming. I used up trim I had and some of the towels. These two are for my neice and nephew (surprise!)

My little man is sitting on his Halloween blanket - again, using up some of what I had to practice monogramming. I decided to do 3, which took awhile. I put pom poms around the edge, and if I had to do it again, I would always choose the big pom poms. Anyways, they all have their name on them, and yes, I do plan on making some Christmas ones.

Next week, we're going to Breckenridge for "Grandma's Camp" with my kids and my sister-in-law and her baby. I made an apron for my mom with all the Grandkids names on it. Smart me decided to change color with every name - this took forever! Maybe, we'll put handprints on it - what do you think, sibs?
Also, we officially started this:

That is our backyard and Grandpa Mac running the machine-thing. I'm so excited, it's so much work, it's so much money, but it will be beautiful!

So, there's a lot going on and the only time I have to do things it late. Unfortunately, my body does pretty well on little sleep and I have hopes that will change.

PS - this is really who has been keeping us up all night:

Grateful Sunday

Is it July already? We have been busy over here - but loving it. First Susie and kids came for a whole week. We had enough time to clean up and then we went camping in the Rocky Mountain National Forest. We skedaddled out of there in time to clean up and now Tom's parents are here for a week. Next week, we meet my parents in Breckenridge for a week - then we breathe and get on each other's nerves because we'll be so bored!
I'm grateful for:

  • Colorado - we love living here. We went camping for 3 days, it was gorgeous. There were times it was so scenic, that it was breath-taking. This is the 2nd year we have done this over the 4th of July.

  • Good, good friends - we went camping with 5 other families. Too many fun memories to list, but if we can't have family nearby, these guys pretty much take the cake.

  • A wonderful RS lesson - Heavenly Father knows me, loves me, loves my children and my husband, and really knowing that makes everything else seem really trivial.

  • My wonderful husband - he really is the man of my dreams.

We're off to have fun with Grandma and Grandpa - have a good week!
