Growing Up

I can't handle it - too many changes for one week. It all started with I. complaining that her tooth hurt too much, when I told her it was her first loose tooth, it suddenly didn't hurt so much - now she's cool. Eight days later . . .

Also, I go to get my baby from her crib after her nap and she's sitting up! How did she learn to do that all by herself? Tom warned me to start getting the babyproofing stuff ready, but I confidently assured him I thought I had until she was 8 months - wrong again . . . Watch out, she's mobile!!

PS - see those cute little "Babylegs" I whipped up this morning? I love them - they're my first proto-type, more to come. If I like them enough, or get obsessive enough - they might be coming your way Baby Hayden.

PPS - I ran the Bolder Boulder on Monday. I've always wanted to do that since my roommate Sarah Markos told me about it 10 years ago. It was a blast, 55,000 people ran it, I have the BEST running partner,and I can't wait to do it next year. Here's a pre-picture (we had to leave at 5am to catcth the bus - but we're pumped):

Be it Ever So Humble . . .

We just returned from an awesome trip to Carlsbad for Uncle Bruce's wedding. Honestly, there's not much to not like about the past week - getting to see my husband for a week, our kids playing non stop outside, a couple trips to the beach, watching my baby feel sand between her toes for the first time, a powerful, insightful sealing, pretty cool in laws to hang out with and on and on. However, it is reassuring to return home and love our home, feel at home and know that this is where we are supposed to be. We love Carlsbad, but we also love Denver!

Perfect Day?

Yesterday started out as a great day - great weather, everyone got good sleep the night before. I was following Elder Ballard's advice and trying to live in the moment. Chores had been pushed aside and we were just playing. It's times like these where I love being at home with my kids. We give hugs, we giggle, we had a picnic lunch . . . but then . . .




Something ALWAYS happens. This time G. didn't want to be John Thompson and pretend to go to the pet store, but I. wanted to be a dog named Oreo and it would be no fun if no one was going to buy her. Oh Boy! (No, the picture above was not posed - this is just how she gets). So, what to do - just like any other respectable mother who wants her kids to be happy and not throw temper tantrums the second something doesn't go their way - I bribed with Oreos. We were all happy and finished our great day.

Grateful Sunday

What a great day today - lots of family time and down time!

I am thankful for

• Sunday walks, and weather nice enough to take the walk!!


• The way my baby snuggles her forehead on my cheek


• A husband who is thought-provoking and talking to him makes me think deeper. Most of the time, my thoughts throughout the day are about as deep as "when did I feed my baby last?" and "what's for dinner?" Tom helps me think about humility, and patience and pure love, and on and on.


• I've got a new nephew - what a great family he is born into!


• A Date Night that Tom and I took last night. Our babysitter didn't really like our kids, G is sick today, but we did it and hopefully we'll do it again!

Happy May Day!!

Yes, it is snowing, again. Yesterday we were in shorts, playing outside. I guess this is part of Colorado. Yes, the first shot is our lovely back yard - hopefully that will be changing drastically in the next few months!
