Who doesn't love a good before and after shot? I'm always poking around my house looking for a project. I found this lamp at Hobby Lobby and loved the price, but didn't like the lamp shade. That's easy to fix, right? I've been reading about all you glue gunners out there and thought I could do it and just use my stash. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the first try. There's so much I didn't like about it. I don't like the hanging thingys, I don't like the ribbon cutting right into the toile. So, I decided to stick to the basics, it's what I like. I got out one of my loves - grosgrain ribbon. I started wrapping and wrapping. There, now I like it - clean, simple, classic! And it looks great in it's little spot.
Second - we have had a table for years, and I have never used it. I don't even know if you call it a table - I think Tom's grandparents had their cocktails and nuts on it? I don't know. Anyways, after staring at that thing for years and reading all your DIYs, I knew that I could use it for something. I forgot to take a before shot, but here it is being primed:
Doesn't it have great shape? I spray painted it black, put a piece of foam on the top, stapled fabric around it and made it into a little bench.
Don't know why that picture is fuzzy - probably because a child was in my arms trying to grab the camera. So, there you go. This is what I do in my child-ignoring time. As my sister-in-law says, "it's cheaper than therapy."

I love them both, especially the lampshade - what a transformation. My MIL handed down some Hobby Lobby esque beaded lamps - did you remove the beads or just wrap over them?
I tore them off and threw them away!
Those are too cute! Can't wait to be able to start creating things again!
I love them. The little stool and lamp look so good! Ok, I'm really jealous of your granite counter tops!
Great before and afters!
I'm a little (okay, a lot) delayed on catching up with comment questions from my blog, but to answer your question about my new kitchen rug--nope, it doesn't "shed" at all. Hope that helps! =)
I love the makeovers! It is so fun to have stuff at your house that you can re-do, without having to spend a lot of money. Looks great!

I love your transformations!! I liked the lampshade toile but I think the ribbon looks great too! Great table too!
Wow Laurel is there anything you can't do? I am so impressed. I will be checking in to see what other amazing things you have done. And yes we all have "child-ignoring time" to keep our sanity. I am glad I am not the only one. Ha Ha. Take care

Love that lampshade! Now I'm inspired to look around and see what I can hot glue or spray paint! :)
I just wanted to say hello. I love all your after shots. My twin sister's name is Laurel too. I don't see that much. I love your name. :)

I love your projects. The lampshade with the white ribbons looks awesome!
Great B&A's - I love them too!
My parents have that A-Z marble sign too- I LOVE it. I am surprised you found something that would hold it up like that. My parents had to mount it to the wall with some heavy duty stuff.
By the way- your pictures are beautiful.
That is such a great stool. You made it look fabulous!
Love the lampshade. And turning a little table into a stool is a great idea.
Love how both turned out. Brilliant to turn the table into a stool. Love that!
